This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
The Story of the Pullman Car Joseph Husband Books
I grew up 3 miles north of the Pullman Car Works in South Chicago. They had a yard that maintained 300 Pullman cars for national emergencies. these cars were in the best of shape new roof coatings and no rust. If the car started to look shabby it was pulled out of line and sent to the paint shop and any other shop to be fixed...I was only 10 years old but was admitted to this yard because our next door neighbor was the chief purchasing agent and my father was an executive of a railroad. The book was very interesting to me and was very accurate. If you enjoy a book full of history of the Pullman Company and are close to the town of Pullman go out and walk around it. In the town center is where all the employees shopped . Doctors and dentist offices were and of course the old Florence Hotel. At one time was fully restored. My farther had a party for me when I came back from South East Asia. t's a book worth reading.Product details

The Story of the Pullman Car Joseph Husband Books Reviews
It is as if a series of light very favorable news paper articles were put together to form a book... without editing. There is a good deal repetition and the writing style is charmingly typical of advertisements or company literature the period. The few facts do however demonstrate that the Pullman Palace Car Company was quite impressive in its scope and scale. It is pleasant and quaint but has too little actual content for more than three stars.
It is OK
The quality of the copy is great. They even added some extra photos throughout to give a pictorial of the times and what was described. The story was interesting telling the evolution of the pullman car from idea to the end of the 19th century.
Good reading, a lot of history in this book.
There is little written about Pullman cars. I wish the book had gone into the 30's 40's and 50's with the changes made to the equipment.
However a good start.
I chose this ebook because of my interest in the Pullman Car Company. The author has provided a general overview of the company, but could have gone into greater detail than he did.
